Now I lay me down to sleep...

You probably remember reciting this prayer as a child:

Now I lay me down to sleep, I pray the Lord my soul to keep. If I die before I wake, I pray the Lord my soul to take.

When our kids were very small, we wanted to teach them a simple prayer to say at bedtime.  I really didn't think much about it, but my wife commented on the phrase "if I die before I wake" as something that might be a little disturbing to a two-year old child.  I agreed, so she came up with our own little family version:

Now I lay me down to sleep, I pray the Lord my soul to keep. As I sleep, through the night, I pray the Lord to keep me in His sight.
